Joining the Blog

Since I loose my UT email privledges in six months I thought that the COL blog would be the perfect vehicle to use to continue to communicate with all of you. I hope this serves to generate more interest in reading and using the blog to communicate, at a more considered pace, than emails, which can get shuffled out of our frame of reference by continually arriving new messages. Blog posts stay in sight longer. I'm working to get all of the material I collected in the Capstone on line but be patient as, with any new Web site built with unsure hands, there are technical problems to be worked out in the coming weeks until ALA in June. The URL is http://www.literacyinprison.com. I have that domain for a year and will likely renew it for the foreseeable future. It's just a few days old at this point so don't expect much but within a few weeks it should be walking and a few weeks after that ...

American Dream Project/Immigrant Literacy --
I was thinking about what Dale had said regarding the sensitivity surrounding the "American Dream Project". I couldn't help but think about the digital resources currently on the Occidental College website regarding Japanese-American Relocation during WWII. A number of those relocated were students at Occidental. Just thought I would pass this site along:
